My great great grandfather John Lester Chisholm, or "Chis", is mentioned in this little book, Round About Katahdin by Ronald L Gower.
I hate for old books to be out of print and out of circulation, so I thought I would get this one digitized and available for Katahdin fans to read online. A clue might be in the "AMC bulletin" printed on some of the pages, which might stand for Appalachian Mountain Club. Just a guess.
I was told there was a treasure in the story, so I read the whole thing and didn't find any reference to treasure, unless I missed it! Still, it is a great naturalist's story of a memorable hike. Maybe that's the treasure.
This document might be hand made for my family as Chisholm's son in law, Charles Joseph Phaneuf, my dad's dad, seemed to have enjoyed printing it up. He worked as a photographer for the Christian Science Monitor. My grandfather's notes on family genealogy are included inside the book and I put that at the end.
